Group Therapy Program (GTP)

Our Group Therapy Program consists of 24 ninety minute weekly sessions and our participants are required to attend every week. Each session of the program will be devoted to a primary topic presented by a trained group therapist who will ensure a balanced exposure to key elements of treatment. Topics are drawn from four core modules: medical aspects of addiction; recovery coping skill development; addiction and the family, and relapse prevention work. We draw from a number of evidence based therapeutic modalities including but not limited to: Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy (REBT), Solution-Focused, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT,) Motivational Interviewing, Sensorimotor Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Mindfulness-based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) and Relational.

Members are encouraged to give frank feedback to each other. Feedback includes expressing your own feelings about what someone says or does while sharing the wisdom you have gained from your own experiences. Interaction between group members is highly encouraged and provides each person with an opportunity to experiment with and practice the new ways of coping and interacting that ultimately solidify your long term recovery. It is a safe environment in which members establish trust that allows them to talk openly and honestly. Group members make a firm commitment to strict confidentiality about the contents and members of their group. It is not appropriate for group members to disclose events of the group to an outside person.
