Dr. Athans is Board Certified in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology, and Life Fellow at the College of American Pathologists. His professional journey was built upon an interest in science and an undergraduate major in chemistry. He entered the study of medicine from a desire to help people. After an internship in internal medicine he completed a 4-year residency in anatomic pathology and clinical pathology; and then practiced general pathology for more than 34 years. A little over 2 years ago he came across an opportunity to help people by practicing addiction medicine (while in semi-retirement, he plans to continue for many years to come).
He earned his BA at the University of New Hampshire and his MD at Dartmouth Medical School.
He believes that we should treat patients the same way that we would want ourselves and our family to be treated. He enjoys interacting and establishing a rapport with patients to help with guiding them through the process of their recovery.
Dr. Athans is currently accepting new patients. Please feel free to contact us and make an appointment today. He’s offering convenient hours Tuesday through Thursday from 8am-6pm. We are very excited to have him!
