Our ROAD History
ROAD to a Better Life began as a Suboxone clinic for treatment of primarily heroin addicts at Pinewood Medical Center in 2004. But as prescription opioids became more plentiful and less expensive on the street, clients increasingly presented with substance misuse of oxycodone, morphine and methadone.
We soon began to understand that while Suboxone (buprenorphine) is an excellent medication with which to eliminate withdrawal and mitigate craving, it alone did not address deeply ingrained behaviors associated with addiction. Thus relapse was unfortunately common, especially following several months of seemingly successful treatment. We then integrated well trained community therapists and counselors and onsite highly accurate urine testing, thus transforming the clinic into a true program and R.O.A.D. to a Better Life was born. R.O.A.D (Recovery from Opioids, Alcohol and other Drugs) can now boast of recidivism rates below 30% at the one year mark. These figures are astounding for outpatient opioid addiction treatment programs.
In less than eight years, ROAD to a Better Life has grown from two facilities to five, scattered over the state of New Hampshire to better serve those in need. Locations include Somersworth, Newington, Concord, Merrimack, and Wolfeboro.
